Welcome to the Bird and Exotic Pet Wellness Center

Birds and exotic pets are unique animals requiring advanced knowledge of their structure, function and diseases for proper treatment. In 2006 we opened our hospital, The Bird and Exotic Pet Wellness Center.  Our goal is to provide high quality care for your special pet including, but not limited to; birds, reptiles, amphibians, small mammals, and pigs.  We recommend annual examinations.  Depending on the age of your pet, this may include; blood work, radiographs (x-rays), parasitic evaluation, or ultrasound.

Dr. Susan Orosz PhD, DVM, Dipl ABVP (Avian), Dipl ECZM (Avian) has been working exclusively with birds and exotics for over 30 years.  “Dr. O” is board certified in avian medicine, taught at The University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine for 14 years, and has worked with several interns and residents at her Toledo practice.

Dr. Megan Mutchler, DVM has joined our practice, starting in June, 2017.

We strive to stay on the cutting edge with these unique animals by giving and attending presentations at continuing education conferences.  Dr Orosz and Dr. Mutchler regularly attend and lecture at national and international conferences like AAV (Association of Avian Veterinarians) and The Association of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians (AEMV).  Dr. Orosz is involved in research projects, has written numerous scientific and informative articles, and maintains memberships in both AAV and AEVM.  She also helped organize the 2018 summer weekend seminar at Phoenix Landing, and has lectured there numerous times.  Dr. Orosz has published two avian textbooks and multiple chapters in others.

At Bird and Exotic Pet Wellness Center we are committed to providing quality care at every stage of your pet's life.  From routine preventative care and early detection, to surgical needs, we can offer your pet the specific care she, or he needs at any life stage.  We look forward to serving you and your unique pet!
